Gordon and Gordon Sail Away With a Win

March 18, 2023Bristol, TN: The Morristown Marine Team Trail pulled in for stop #2 of the 2023 Season with another record-breaking field Saturday morning. 270 teams registered for the tournament, and 248 of those teams headed out into the cold early Spring morning to compete for their share of the $51,855.00 payout. The March cold snap hurt the bite from what it had been the previous week, with wind and cold rain moving in on Thursday night and overnight lows Saturday morning hovering just under freezing and while the day was a mix of sun and clouds, the steady 10-15 mph wind kept the temperature feeling chilly. But there were still a lot of fish caught and weighed with 121 of those teams weighing at least one fish for a grand total of 1,337.41 lbs weighed in total. 68 teams had a five fish limit with a total of 487 fish weighed and 485 fish released alive to be caught again another day.  Blast off took 1 hour and 4 minutes, averaging 3.9 boats per minute and weigh-in took 1 hour and 40minutes, averaging 1.21 bags per minute. We certainly appreciate everyone fishing with us and helping us to create such a great trail!

The team of Jeremy Gordon and Philip Gordon notched the win with a total weight of 19.99 lbs. Jeremy and Philip told us they found a couple of good schools of fish during practice and were able to fish among other boats and still pick up good fish. Jeremy and Philip said they focused on fishing vertically for suspended fish around bait balls in the 45-60 ft range. The Gordons cahsed in on almost every contingency program we offer, including Highest Finishing Skeeter Money, Humminbird/MinnKota Bonus, and Morristown Marine New Bucks. Jeremy’s Skeeter also qualifies them for Skeeter Real Money, so add another $5,000.00 on to that payday for a whopping total of $19,250.00! Congrats, guys!

Falling into a VERY close 2nd place was the team of Steve Henegar and Shawn Hudson with a 19.95 lb bag. Steve and Shawn’s big bag was anchored by a giant smallie that tipped the scales at 4.85 lbs, also just off the Big Smallmouth mark. For their efforts, Steve and Shawn will take home a check for $5,000.00. Way to go, Steve and Shawn!

3rd place belongs to Cory Smith and Cody Ketron with a total weight of 19.22 lbs. Cory and Cody will net $3,000.00 for their efforts on SoHo. Good work, guys!
