Majni’s Move Has Big Payoff!

March 5, 2022- Morristown, TN–The 2022 Morristown Marine Team Trail got off to a great start Saturday with 242 boats on Cherokee Lake. The weather could not have been any nicer with rare 70+ degrees, occasional cloud cover and a little bit of wind. Coming off a heavy rain system, the dirty water warmed quickly this week and got the fish eating. 105 teams weighed a 5-fish limit and 171 teams weighed at least one fish. A grand total of 1,771.60 lbs of fish hit our scales yesterday! 719 total fish weighed in with all 719 being alive and released back into the lake.

The team of Casey Majni and Corey Brooks finished on top with 19.46 lbs anchored by a Cherokee Giant Largemouth that weighed 7.48 lbs. Corey had to work, so Casey fished by himself. He told me he started down the lake and by mid-morning, he had nothing and made a run into the river. He said he stopped on a spot he hadn’t practiced and found a school of the right fish that wanted to eat an Alabama rig and swimbait. Casey’s big bag won him a grand total of $20,445.00 for his day of fishing. This included 1st place, Highest Finishing Skeeter, Skeeter REAL Money, Morristown Marine New Money, 1st Humminbird/MinnKota Payout, and Big Largemouth. Congrats on an incredible day, Casey!

Following in a close 2nd place was the team of Bobby Chambers and Tim Smiley with a weight of 17.38 lbs with a nice smallmouth of 3.98. Bobby and Tim will get a paid $7,400.00 for their efforts. This includes 2nd place, 2nd Highest Finishing Skeeter, 2nd Morristown Marine New Money, 2nd Humminbird/MinnKota Payout. Great job, guys!

3rd Place went to Rufus Johnson and Craig Brewer with a 17.11 lb bag. Rufus and Craig will deposit a check for $2,500.00 for their 3rd place finish! Congrats on a great tournament!

The team of Don Carmack and Bryan Sandefur finished in 4th place with 16.54 lbs of fish. Don and Bryan will take home a total of $3,000.00 including 4th  place overall and 3rd Highest Finishing Skeeter. Way to go, Don and Bryan!

Rounding out the top 5 was the team of Tim Woods and Chad Waddell with a 16.45 lb bag. Tim and Chad will cash a check for $1,800.00 including 5th place over all and 4th Highest Finishing Skeeter. Congrats Tim and Chad!
