5.16-2020-Watts Bar Lake

Seeber & Moore Cash In With A Win

May 16, 2020- Rockwood, TN: As a cool May morning dawned, 228 boats lined up for blast off on the 3rd edition of the 2020 Morristown Marine Team Trail in beautiful Roane County. We couldn’t have special ordered nicer weather. The fishing, however, was less spectacular than the weather. The post-front bluebird skies made the bite tougher than most expected. 121 teams weighed at least one fish with 78 limits being weighed. A total of 521 fish hit the scales Saturday afternoon for a total weight of 1,344.86 lbs. Payout totaled $47,885 and was paid out over 38 places. The cut weight ended up at 13.33 lbs.

Cody Seeber of Clinton, TN and Jeff Moore of Harriman, TN took home the honors with a very healthy 18.23 lb bag of Watts Bar fish. Cody and Jeff said they found an early shad spawn topwater bite and followed that with a rotation of deep holes. When the deep bite died for them, they reverted to flipping docks for their final cull fish. Cody and Jeff collected checks for 1st place, Highest Finishing Skeeter, Morristown Marine New Money, Humminbird/MinnKota for a total of $14,250.00.  Cody is fishing out of a 2020 Skeeter that he registered for Skeeter Real Money, so he can add another $5,000.00 to that total from Skeeter Boats! Congratulations Cody and Jeff!

Coming in a close 2nd place was David Morgan (Rutledge, TN) and Ben Boggs (Bean Station TN) with a weight of 17.60 lbs anchored by a 4.38 green fish. David and Ben said they found some fish staging out on secondary points and spent their day running those points. They only had 8 keeper bites all day, but stressed that they fished clean and every bite counted for them. David and Ben took home $5,000 for 2nd place and 2nd Highest Finishing Skeeter. Congrats, guys!

3rd place went to Brian Hatfield of Spring City, TN and Justin Freeman of Dayton, TN with 17.45 lbs. Brian and Justin will receive $3,000.00 for their efforts on Saturday. Good job, guys!

4th place belonged to Michael Conn of Mooresburg, TN and Daniel Conn of Rutledge, TN with a total weight of 17.34 lbs. Michael and Daniel will get $2,000.00 for their day of fishing. Nice work, guys!

Rounding out the top 5 was Michael Cantrell of Philadelphia, TN weighing in a bag totaling 16.69lbs.  Michael will receive $1,250.00 for his time on the water Saturday. Congratulations, Michael!
